Dear Families, Children, Educators and Community.
After meeting with the Education Directorate on Friday 7th Feb, the original offer of a 12 month licence extension (until Jan 30th 2027) was reinstated.
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR LETTERS OF SUPPORT, ENCOURAGEMENT AND POSITIVITY!
The Directorate has also agreed to follow through with its previous commitment to meet with us to resolve the outstanding issues we have all been confronting for so long. Further, and positively, the Directorate has assured us that they want to rebuild their relationship with us and reestablish trust.
The following are our main long outstanding issues, we welcome your input and engagement with them;
- the need for a 5 year licence for stability and surety for Aeon Academy staff and families
- acknowledgement that years of ’12 month licenses’ have damaged OSHC (staff retention, sfamily urety and childcare stability) and the Directorate needs to make amends
- air conditioning for the facilities
- formalisation in the licence that our youngest children access the Garden classrooms from 2.30 pm everyday which are set up for their benefit
- parity between our Service and the other provider on site which has a dedicated space (and air conditioning) despite the greater range of programs we offer and numbers of children we care for
- changing the label of the room we have used for our staff for years from ‘Storeroom’ to ‘Back Office or Aeon Staffroom’ in recognition of the work Educators do
